The Tumulus St Michel de Carnac

The 5th century St Michael’s Tumulus, dating from the 5th century, is erected on an artificial mound 10 m high, (the highest point in Carnac), 60 m wide and 100 m long.

At its top a small chapel was erected in 1926, dedicated to St. Michael’.

An emblematic Neolithic funerary monument in western Europe, it is a very special building full of galleries in which various objects have been found: polished axe blades, ornamental jewels, flint tools and bones etc.

Listed as a historical monument in 1889
